As summer comes to an end and cooler fall weather arrives, it’s the perfect time to tackle a few simple maintenance tasks to keep your home comfortable, safe, and energy-efficient. Clean leaves and debris from gutters and downspouts, and check your roof for damaged or missing shingles. Inspect doors and windows for drafts, and replace weatherstripping or caulking as needed. Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and replace batteries if needed. Finally, schedule a heating system tune-up to make sure your furnace or heat pump is ready for the colder months ahead.
